JEDDAH: Remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present security threats and risks to companies and employees in Saudi Arabia, with 7 million cyberattacks hitting the country in the first two months of 2021, according to a new report.
The report, from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, said that Saudi Arabia saw more than 22.5 million brute force attacks in 2020 on remote desktop protocols (RDPs), the most popular way to access Windows or servers. Brute force attacks are trial-and-error attempts to guess login information, encryption keys or find a hidden web page. ....

WASHINGTON - Pancreatic cancer, one of the most lethal of all cancers, is capable of evading attacks by immune cells by changing its microenvironment so that the immune cells suppress, rather than support, an attack on the tumor. The scientists also found that that some of the mediators of this suppressive response, including a protein called STAT1, represent potential therapeutic targets that could be used to reverse this evasion and point to possible treatment opportunities.
The finding appears January 28, 2021, in
Cancer Immunology Research.
This is the first demonstration that an immune attack induces pancreatic cancer-derived immune suppression, offering a new approach to immunotherapy for this deadly cancer, noted Louis M. Weiner, M.D., director of Georgetown Lombardi and the Principal Investigator of this study. ....

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates University has been ranked as the region’s third best university, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.
The list was based on the annual results of the World University Rankings of higher education institutions, and only included universities located in nations that are members of the Arab League.
The top university for the coming year was King Abdul Aziz University in Saudi Arabia, with the remaining top four institutes also from the Middle East.
The 72 universities featured on the list were ranked as specialist science and technology universities.
