Connecticut residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear masks outdoors in small groups, Gov. Ned Lamont said Tuesday, echoing guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC recommended Tuesday that fully vaccinated people may remove their masks outdoors in most circumstances but should continue to wear them at crowded gatherings such as concerts or sporting events.
“The CDC is able to make this announcement because our scientists are convinced by the data that the odds of getting or giving the virus to others is very, very low if you’re both and fully vaccinated and out in the open air,” President Joe Biden said. ....

Connecticut’s colleges and universities are planning to fully reopen for in-person learning this fall, school leaders announced Monday. But Gov. Ned Lamont maintains that for now the state will not require students to get vaccinated for COVID-19 before returning to campus.
During a news conference with public and private school leaders in New Haven, Lamont said he wants all students and staff to get vaccinated and that he is sending mobile vaccine clinics to campuses to help them do so. ....
