The Haunting of Bois Blanc Island Yeah, yeah, we ve heard about the hauntings on Mackinac Island until we re blue in the face. But what about hauntings on a different Michigan island? Just a tad south of Mackinac Island is the tiny Round Island.you know, the one that was featured in the film “Somewhere In Time”. And just a smidgen south of Round Island is Bois Blanc Island, a 34-square mile island that is said to be an above-average haunted location. So who haunts it? Some rumors say it s the spirit of John Dillinger, who once had a cabin on the island he used for a hideout (see photos below). But that doesn t make sense, since he didn t die there. ....
The Haunted 1850 Catholic Cemetery, Marquette This historic old graveyard has been around ever since 1850, even though no one has been buried there since approximately 1900. In 1861, this little patch of graveyard land, which sits at the corner of Pioneer Road and Division Street, was donated to Reverend Frederic Baraga with the strict specifications that the land was to ONLY be used for free burial ground and for no other purpose . But the graveyard was filling up with little burial ground left. Then in 1897, along comes the new Holy Cross Cemetery, whose caretakers coaxed the church parishioners to dig up their dead and move em to the new grounds. Some locals were talked into it, while others refused, leaving their deceased family and friends to stay where they were. ....
The Haunting of the Whaley House, Flint Yep.the Haunted Michigan sites continue on. This one is the former Robert J. Whaley house at 624 E. Kearsley in Flint, now used as the Whaley House Museum. Mr. Whaley (1840-1922) was instrumental in the genesis of General Motors. In 1886, when he was the president of Citizen s Bank, he floated a loan to the Flint Road Cart Company, which led to GM. A year earlier, he and his family moved to Flint and occupied this grand Victorian house at (what is now) the corner of E. Kearsley & Chavez Drive. DEATH OF THE WHALEYS ....
