Carol Sutton, president of the Greenwich Education Association, was not alone in celebrating Gov. Ned Lamont’s Monday announcement that there would be dedicated clinics set up starting in March to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to pre-K to grade 12 school staff and teachers and professional childcare providers. ....

Last summer, as school districts across America were nervously considering whether to pry open the school doors for part-time learning, Miguel Cardona was in Connecticut, pushing districts hard to return five days a week.
Through a combination of pressure and cajoling, along with an open line of communication, Cardona saw all but one school district in his state adopt some flavor of in-person education in the fall, reopening school buildings even as teachers across Connecticut staged noisy protests and districts across the country remained online only. ....

CONNECTICUT Gov. Ned Lamont has long contended that, as a result of their regular deep cleaning regimens and ability to easily enforce virus mitigation protocols such as mask-wearing and social distancing, schools were the safest places to be. A new survey of Connecticut teachers shows they clearly disagree.
In fact, 68.8 percent of the educators polled disagreed with the governor s assessment of the workplace s safety during the Age of Coronavirus, and another 17.44 percent were unsure. ....
