Ford is launching the Maverick hybrid in 2022
Ford is launching the 2022 Maverick, a compact pickup truck with a full hybrid powertrain, in the US with prices starting from $19,995. An electric offshoot is also not out of the question at this stage.
The hybrid-electric pickup truck offers 1,500 pounds of payload capacity in the basic setup, while the optional 2.0-liter EcoBoost gas engine can tow up to 4,000 pounds. A 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder hybrid powertrain delivers 191 horsepower when combined with the electric motor and 155 lb.-ft. of torque.
A small electric pickup based on the Maverick at least does not seem out of the question, however, Ford is remaining purposefully vague for now.
