DRDO Scientists Develop Indigenous COVID Antibody Detection Kit DIPCOVAN , To Be Launched Early Next Month
Covid-19 antibody detection kit DIPCOVAN (PIB)
Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has developed an antibody detection-based kit DIPCOVAN .
The DIPCOVAN kit can detect both spike as well as nucleocapsid (S&N) proteins of SARS-CoV-2 virus with a high sensitivity of 97 per cent and specificity of 99 per cent. The kit has been developed in association with Vanguard Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, a development and manufacturing diagnostics company based at New Delhi.
The DIPCOVAN kit was developed indigenously by the scientists, followed by extensive validation on more than 1,000 patient samples at various Covid designated hospitals in Delhi. ....

In a major setback to Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence, the Indian Army has decided to equip its more than 400 infantry battalions with US-made Sig Sauer assault rifles. The military top brass is going ahead with the decision due to multiple delays in the manufacturing of homegrown AK-203 that will be made with the assistance of India s long term defence partner Russia.
Notably, the Army purchased the Sig 716 G2 Patrol assault rifles, chambered for 7.6251 mm ammunition, under the Fast-Tracked Process (FTP) in 2019 for frontline soldiers stationed at borders and engaged in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has publicly unveiled its conceptualised and benchmarked twin-engine, 13-tonne, multi-role, multi-mission, medium-lift helicopter, riding on its achievements in the design, production and manufacture of light helicopters.
The Bengaluru headquartered defence public sector aerospace major has named it the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH). In the segment previously monopolised by Russian origin, the workhorse legacy helicopter, the Mi-17, which is currently used in big numbers by the Indian Air Force (IAF), the project could pose a major challenge.
Although HAL detailed its progress on the IMRH during a 6 February presentation at the Aero India event in Bengaluru, the first images of IMRH have been unveiled by the company recently.
