New Global Network Emerges, Promotes Feminist Foreign Policy
International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) says a new Global Partner Network that brings together governments and leading civil society groups to advance the nascent field of “feminist foreign policy” has since taken off the ground.
The Network is for a policy approach tailored to address the issues of the day and advance new ground in the global quest for gender equality.
ICRW is however, the premier applied research institute focused on women and girls. In 2016, ICRW merged with the US research organisation Re:Gender (formerly the National Council for Research on Women) to create a global research platform. ....

People may think of polio as a disease that has been eradicated, like smallpox, but that is not the case.
Last year, there were 441 reported polio cases worldwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
While the last-known case of the crippling disease in the United States was in 1979, the CDC recommends that all children should receive a series of four polio shots. ....

As we celebrate the triumphs and struggles of African American History this month, there is perhaps no local example that highlights such achievements better than the residential designs of architect Paul R. Williams.
In his six-decade career, Williams worked on more than 3,000 projects that ranged from modest homes to extravagant mansions commissioned for the city’s elite. Renowned for his mastery of harmonious proportions and signature undulating lines, Williams’ residential designs were simultaneously graceful and relaxed.
Williams’ inspiring story is examined in a new book, “Master Architects of Southern California 1920-1940: Paul R. Williams,” published last month by Tailwater Press and Angel City Press. The 212-page book is the fourth in a series co-authored by local real estate agent Bret Parsons along with architect Marc Apple ....
