Empower begins operations of its plant in Dubai Production City

(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has announced the commencement of operations of its district cooling plant at Dubai Production City project with a cooling capacity of 47,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT).
The contract worth Dh197 million was awarded by Empower last year for building this new generation district cooling plant.
This is the first permanent plant room out of the three ones established in the area with a total capacity of 125,000 RT for the whole project upon completion. 52 multi-use buildings are already connected to the new plant during the first phase; and 14 additional buildings will be connected in the next two years. ....

ETHIOPIA, MAY 2017. A research collaboration on the long-term financing of social protection between Ethiopia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the EU-SPS held its first workshop in Addis Ababa on 31 May. The event was attended by representatives of more than a dozen institutions including government ministries, local NGOs and international development partners, all active in the social protection sector. Professor Tassew Woldehanna from the Ethiopian Development Research Institute, which is supporting the project, presented an initial mapping of social protection spending, including expenditure by Ministries, social security agencies and development partners. I am based in the Scottish Mircroelectronics Center where I am part of the Soft Systems Group. There I conduct research on soft-bodied underwater vehicle design and propulsion, soft manipulator machine-learning control, model-predictive control of unmanned underwater vehicles and shape-changing vibrational systems. I am also part of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics.
