The Swan River Sailing Championship Weekend is back for 2021 with another triple banger of three regattas to be held over one weekend in March 2021 at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club! After a false start in 2020, Friday, 19th March will have our old favourite back, the Champion of Champions for a sunset sailing session.
Backing it up on Saturday, 20 March will be the second dose of the Women s State Keelboat Championships for the season followed by the fourth event of the WA Tour & Development Program on Sunday, 21 March; the 2021 Youth State Keelboat Championships. ....

Salacia II was commissioned by Arthur William Byrne, the Australian businessman, philanthropist, and founder of B&D Roll-a-Door. The brief at the time to her designer, Olin Stephens, was to match the dominance of Syd Fischer s Ragamuffin on the water, but no expense was to be spared to fit her out with comfort and opulence. Arthur commissioned Cec Quilkey to build Salacia II in 1969 and campaigned her for many years including a 3rd Place finish in the Sydney to Hobart race in 1970.
Salacia II was to be faster and prettier. They became fierce competitors in events such as the Sydney to Hobart, but raced alongside each other as teammates in the Admiral s Cup. She would become one of Australia s most iconic ocean racing yachts. ....

During these unusual times for sports competition, Swan River Sailing supported by the Warren Jones Foundation are hosting the WA Tour. It includes a series of five events, targeted to youth sailors, sailed over thee 2020/21 Season in Western Australia.
The WA Tour is structured as a series with aggregated scoring, overall prize money and handicaps to encourage fierce competition, dedication, hard work and skill development for local youth sailors. Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club are pleased to have their annual JESS Match Cup as part of the series. ....

Perfect conditions offshore in Perth for the Ocean Racing WA IRC State Championships hosted by Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club. The weekend regatta was held over the 28 and 29 November as part of the Rockingham Race Regatta. The big yachts were watched by beachgoers in Cottesloe on Saturday morning and the locals enjoying their brunch. Racing was tight and exciting to kick off the event, a fantastic spectacle for the public.
For the IRC State Championship there was a mix of boats and experience. The racing included two coastal passage races of up to 27 nautical miles and up to four around the buoys (windward/leeward) races with a target time of 45 minutes each. ....
