In 2019, exports from Togo to Niger exceeded $80 million
Economic governance

In 2019, Togo exported over $80 million worth of goods to Niger, according to data gathered by the UN.
The exports include mainly livestock and oils (valued at around $25 million), as well as plastics and derivatives ($14.5 million). There were also vehicles, sugar, iron, steel, wines, fabrics, alcohol drinks and other beverages.
This makes Niger Togo’s fourth export destination over the period reviewed, with 8.9% of all
Togolese exports. The new performance is far better than that recorded in 2018; it stood at about $38 million.
The increase is attributable primarily to the Port of Lomé’s performances which were significantly driven up by the Togolese government’s efforts to make the infrastructure a logistics hub across the region.  ....

OPINION:
Hold off on ridiculing the Government for scratching their light rail plans and starting again. This decision deserves praise.
It takes a certain amount of courage to admit you ve got it wrong and need
to go back to the drawing board, especially when you know it ll open you up to ridicule. And that s exactly what s happened. Critics are having a field day.
That s the Government s own fault. Light rail is a broken promise. The first promise Jacinda Ardern made as Labour leader in 2017 was that light rail would be up and running by 2021. Far from that, there isn t even a shovel in the ground in 2021. Light rail is a symbol - a bit like KiwiBuild but not quite as bad - of the Sixth Labour Government s inability to deliver. ....

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet rejected resumption of trade with India as suggested by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), reiterating the government’s stated position that India should first revert to the August 5, 2019 position and move towards resolution of the Kashmir issue.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said this while addressing a press conference here on Thursday, after attending the federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan through the video link.
The minister emphasized that resumption of trade with India is not possible without the resolution of the core dispute of Kashmir. “We favour trade with New Delhi, but India should first return to the pre August 5 position. Such decisions (trade resumption) will be gauged vis-à-vis the yardstick set in this context by the government,” he said. He said the media gave headlines of government’s decision to resume trade with India ....
