Bangladesh's apparel export value soared 571.8% year-on-year in Apr

According to the latest data, Bangladesh s apparel export value rose by 571.8% year-on-year in Apr, reaching 2.517 billion USD, up 2.5% month-on-month. The substantial yearly growth was mainly due to the outbreak of the overseas epidemic in April 2020, which caused lockdown and severe exports blocked. Compared with April 2019, the apparel export value dropped by 0.88%. On varieties front, the export value of knitted and woven apparel inched up by 2.2% and 2.9% month-on-month respectively, up 644.9% and 504.1% year-on-year. The export value of knitted apparel moved up by 4.5% and woven one declined by 6.4% year-on-year, indicating that the export of knitted apparel recovered to the level before the outbreak of Covid-19, while that of woven one was still recovering. ....

A top scientific adviser to the Indian government warned on Wednesday the country would inevitably face further waves of the coronavirus pandemic, as almost 4,000 people died in the space of a day.
With hospitals scrabbling for beds and oxygen in response to a deadly second surge in infections, the World Health Organization said in a weekly report that India accounted for nearly half the coronavirus cases reported worldwide last week and a quarter of the deaths. ....
