LUVERNE Have you ever wondered who works in the operating room? The person in the blue surgical gown near a back table is your surgical technologist ( surg tech ). This person is organizing and preparing the sterile instruments and supplies that will be used during the surgery. The surg tech plays an integral role in the operating room from the start (preoperative), during (intraoperative) and at the end (postoperative) of the surgical procedure.
I always wanted to be in health care, but it was later in my life that I studied to become a surgical technologist. I chose surgical technology because this position involved working with the patient, assisting the surgeon during the procedure, and working with the operating room team to have a positive influence on the patient s outcom ....
