The newly minted Cannabis Regulatory Commission held its first public meeting at 2 p.m. on April 12, marking the official start of the CRC’s work to establish and an adult-use and medical cannabis marketplace in New Jersey.
The meeting was led by Chair Dianna Houenou. Commissioners Krista Nash, program director of Volunteers of America of Delaware Valley; Sam Delgado, a retired Verizon executive; Maria Del Cid, a Department of Health official; and Charles Barker, an aid for U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, were in attendance; along with Executive Director Jeff Brown. ....

Program expands to include the Final Salute
Honoring military veterans for their service is a part of CoxHealths culture, and the health system is expanding the recognition it provides with a new Veterans Honor Program.
The program launched systemwide in recent days, standardizing the ways patients who have served in the United States Armed Forces are recognized.
This opportunity to create a unique program for our veterans in the populations we serve is a huge win for our communities and for CoxHealth, says Kerry Miller, volunteer services coordinator and member of the Veterans Honor Program Committee. Through a team effort, this program is now a reality. ....

UAB Health System CEO Will Ferniany has announced he will retire at year’s end.
Selwyn Vickers, senior vice president and dean of the UAB School of Medicine, will succeed Ferniany as CEO of system and CEO of the new UAB/Ascension St. Vincent’s Alliance, while continuing in his role of dean of the medical school.
Ferniany has headed the system since 2008, watching it grow from five hospitals to 11, with revenues expanding from $2.3 billion in 2008 to more than $5.8 billion today.
UAB President Ray Watts said Ferniany “has enjoyed a long and distinguished career that led to transformational change for UAB Medicine and health care in Birmingham and across Alabama.” ....
