Alexandria Literacy Project to dissolve at end of year
As a result of the dissolution, Alexandria Public Schools Community Education, will assume  responsibility for the majority of the volunteer program under the Adult Basic Education program.

The Alexandria Literacy Project Board voted unanimously to dissolve the Alexandria Literacy Project on Dec. 31, 2020.
For the last 40 years, the school district has deferred the Adult Basic Education volunteer program to the Alexandria Literacy Project. They have embraced and shared literacy support to a magnitude of adult learners throughout Alexandria, according to Alexandria Public Schools leaders.
