After 12 months of regular COVID-19 updates, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy has delivered his tenth State of the County Address.
McCoy, speaking via Facebook, opened with a nod to the pandemic, setting a theme that would permeate this year’s talk.

The first known case of COVID-19 in Albany County was on March 12, 2020. Today marks a year that we have been at war against COVID-19 and continue in our battle against this deadly disease. Every minute of every day, we re closing in on our enemy, and I shall accept nothing short of full victory. Now s not the time to soften or relax. I have been vigilant throughout this pandemic. And to be sure, I shall remain vigilant and use all resources to deliver the final blow that will return our community back to safety. ....

McCoy delivers tenth State of Albany County address


McCoy also offered new initiatives in fostering a better quality of life for Albany County moving forward.
Indeed, this evening’s address is like no other. The first known case of coronavirus in Albany County was on March 12, 2020, McCoy said. Grant to give financial boost to 132 Albany County businesses


Around 132 small businesses in Albany County are about to get a much-needed financial boost.
They ve been selected to receive grants of up to $5,000 each.
More than 269 applications were received last month by the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Task Force.
The grants were made possible thanks to the Community Loan Fund and the Advance Albany County Alliance.
The winners will be notified Friday, and a complete list will be posted on the county legislature s website.

Albany County officials discuss coronavirus pandemic small business grants


That brought the county death toll to 324 since pandemic tracking started last March. 
McCoy also announced 155 new positive cases. Encompassed within the new cases were 91 who did not have a present clear infection source, 13 healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings and who who traveled out of state. Albany County has 1,220 active cases. According to the Albany County Department of Health, there are 30 case in the city of Cohoes. Plus, there are 2,511 people under mandatory quarantine in the county.

Conversely, 174 cases have been cleared for recovery and release.  
The County Executive also noted 12 new hospitalizations overnight, and there are 126 county residents currently hospitalized from the virus. Additionally, 16 patients are in the ICU.   ....

County Executive Dan McCoy expressed frustration at his Wednesday news briefing that his office was not notified of nine COVID-19 deaths among the nuns at St. Joseph’s Provincial House, a convent and monastery for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on Watervliet-Shaker Road.
