Big Rig No Match for Bethlehem Bridge
The driver of a tractor trailer who apparently underestimated the size of his vehicle found out that his rig was no match for an old Bethlehem bridge on Thursday night. As a result, expect the Friday morning commute through this part of Albany County to be compromised.
After slamming into it the bridge, police say it became stuck underneath for hours causing backups, road closures and delays. Judging by the picture released by the Bethlehem Police Department the rig suffered some pretty serious damage.

The Albany County Rail Trail bridge was clearly banged up a bit as well during the incident that took place at approximately 9PM last evening in the area of 1526 New Scotland Road. The vehicle, registered to Massola Trucking of Florida tried to pass underneath the bridge as it traveled westbound according to a report by the Times Union. ....

A main route through Bethlehem will be closed for an extended period of time, according to Bethlehem Police after a tractor-trailer struck and became wedged under a bridge in Slingerlands.Bethlehem Police Department
BETHLEHEM The driver of a tractor trailer that got wedged under an overpass on New Scotland Road closing the road for hours told police he was lost and didn t realize the truck was several feet too high to make it under the bridge, police said.
Police said the semi driven by the 57-year-old Kissimmee, Fla., man was in violation of federal codes that regulate commercial vehicles. Among the violations, police said, was failure to keep a proper log book and failure to obey a traffic control device. ....
