ALBANY Glenda Tyson, a retired captain and New York Air National Guard nurse, didn’t go far from the military after her active duty was done. She took a nursing job at the Department of Veterans Affairs, treating other former service members.
Then, eight years ago, Tyson became a patient herself. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, or MS, she tried many treatments to slow the progress of the autoimmune disease attacking her central nervous system, and said her body “could not tolerate” the slew of drugs. Francesca has been employed as a Research Psychologist at the NIMH since 2000, when she was recruited by Dennis Charney, MD, during the formation of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Research Program. Prior to this, she held research positions at the Section on Development Psychology at the NIMH, Outpatient Psychiatry at the Washington Veterans Medical Center, and the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
Francesca s work has focused on the writing and submission of the original NIMH Family Study protocol and the development and selection of research measures. ALBANY The Albany Stratton VA Medical Center said Wednesday it has expanded eligibility for on-site COVID-19 vaccinations.
Eligible now are all veterans; veterans’ spouses, widows or widowers; veterans’ caregivers; recipients of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs; and members of the National Guard, Reserve and Coast Guard including those retired and never activated.
Appointments are required to receive the vaccine through the Albany facility. Those unable to make appointments due to short supply of vaccine can register at https://www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/ the Stratton Center will notify them when vaccine is available. ....
