A UK government minister rebuffed claims that pictures of empty supermarket shelves in some UK towns were down to Brexit, stating that Coronavirus lockdowns were the actual cause.
Northern Ireland minister Brandon Lewis was touring broadcast studios Tuesday morning and was twice asked about the state of food supply in the nation. Asked about supermarket shelves in Ulster, one of the four home nations, Lewis told the BBC’s Today Programme that the phenominon had been seen accross the country, but was actually down to delivery delays caused by Coronavirus, and had “nothing to do with leaving the EU”. ....

Sir Van Morrison is mounting a legal challenge against a pandemic ban on live music.
The celebrated singer-songwriter from Belfast is commencing judicial review proceedings against Stormont regulations that prohibit live music in indoor licensed venues in Northern Ireland.
Hospitality and entertainment venues are currently closed as part of a six-week lockdown in the region.
When such venues have been allowed to open under less severe restrictions, live music has not been allowed. ....

Violence in Green Island labor dispute
During a clash between picketing strikers and workers at the plant of the Sweet & Doyle foundry in Green Island, shots were fired but no one was injured, at least from the guns. The fight started when 50 men from Schenectady arrived in Green Island to join the striking workers on the picket line. It continued until members of Troop B, State Troopers, arrived on the scene and the crowd dispersed. ....
