This RiNo restaurant s name pays homage to Denver’s own Chinese history: Hop Alley was the once-thriving Chinatown that was burned down during riots in the 1880s. But the cooking like the sleek, hip-hop-infused restaurant is all modern. Dishes have their roots in regional specialties but are interpreted liberally. On the menu since Hop Alley opened is Beijing duck, normally served whole with pancakes, here reimagined into a wrap, with flaky scallion pancakes forming the shell. The menu changes regularly, so there s always the chance of discovering a new favorite dish. Hop Alley is currently open for takeout, delivery and limited seating in heated outdoor tents. ....

Street Cart Eats Brings Food Truck Rally and International Market to Brighton


Brighton will soon be home to a new food truck project. Beginning in March, Street Cart Eats will host at least thirteen food trucks, three non-food vendors, a taproom, a mini-market and live music at 19 South Third Avenue. “We want to showcase different world cuisines that bring a variety of options for locals and traveling food enthusiasts that you can t find any other place,” says Jason Powers, the project s founder.
He’s run World Taco Fusion (WTF) food trucks in Austin and Denver since 2015, but instead of expanding to a brick-and-mortar, Powers wanted to go even bigger to challenge himself, provide variety for customers, and tap into the creativity that comes from working with such a diverse range of businesses. ....

New Denver Restaurants and Closings in January 2021


There s no question that the restaurant industry is still struggling as the coronavirus pandemic rages on. But a mild winter and the partial reopening of dining rooms has made January just a little more bearable than December. Still, many eateries are choosing to stay closed until Denver has better patio weather, more widespread vaccinations and safer projections from government agencies.
Despite the challenges, few restaurants decided to call it quits permanently last month. The Denver Diner and Hearth & Dram had already closed, but in January revealed their decisions to officially throw in the kitchen towel permanently. While the Denver Diner had operated at partial capacity from June to November, it closed for good on November 20, when dining rooms were declared off-limits; the owners have left room for the possibility of opening in a new location in the future. Hearth & Dram never reopened after closing in March, though it originally planned to make a comeback this spring ....

More National Brands Add Ghost Kitchens in Denver


Smokin Ace just started selling sausages, sandwiches and other eats from its delivery-only kitchen inside the massive new CloudKitchens facility at 810 Vallejo Street. It was one of the first ventures to launch there, but the facility can host some fifty food businesses, so other outfits like Combi Tacos and Meta Asian Kitchen (which has its original location inside Avanti Food & Beverage) are now joining in the fun, with many more to come.
CloudKitchens, founded by former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, is one of several new ghost-kitchen businesses opening in multiple cities. ChefReady is another, with ten kitchens available at 1468 South Cherokee Street. The model targets relatively inexpensive properties in centrally located areas of cities, allowing third-party delivery companies easy access to heavily populated neighborhoods. So your tacos, noodles, hot dogs and more could all be emanating from the same location. ....
