Harbour View: - On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, His Excellency Governor drs. Eugene B. Holiday paid a working visit to the COVID-19 Vaccine Administering Location at the Vineyard Park Office Complex in Philipsburg. During a tour of the location, Governor Holiday received a briefing on the vaccination process from Mrs. Lista-de Weever, Epidemiologist and head of the Department of Collective Prevention Services (CPS). Minister Panneflek with responsibility for CPS, a department within the Ministry of Public Health, Labor, and Social Affairs, attended part of the visit. The Governor met and spoke with CPS staff about the experiences, the vaccination process, how the operation is going as well as the number of persons vaccinated and registered so far. ....

CAY HILL: - On Thursday, February 4th, 2021, His Excellency Governor drs. E. B. Holiday was given a tour of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) and an update on their COVID-19 efforts. His Excellency, joined by the Director of the cabinet of the Governor Mrs. Mieke Kalter, visited SMMC for an official working visit.
Prior to the tour, Governor Holiday was given a presentation by SMMC’s Management on the response, vaccination plan, and facilities as well as an update on the upgrades to the current hospital which includes a soon-to-be-opened MRI center. The presentation also included a construction update for the new St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH) after which a virtual tour of the new hospital and a scale model were presented. ....

Prez competent to decide pardon of Rajiv assassination convict: SC told

The Centre told the Supreme Court Thursday that Tamil Nadu Governor has taken a stand that the President of India is the appropriate competent authority to deal with the state government s 2018 recommendation to grant remission to A G Perarivalan, who is serving life term in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
The Centre said that the Governor recorded his decision after considering all the facts on record and perusing the relevant documents.
In an affidavit, the Ministry of Home Affairs said the proposal received by the Central government will be processed in accordance with law.
His Excellency the Governor of Tamil Nadu considered all the facts on record and after perusal of the relevant documents, recorded that the President of India is the appropriate competent authority to deal with the said request for remittance matter vide his order dated January 25, 2021. New Delhi: Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit will decide in three-four days on the state government’s 2018 recommendation to grant remission to A.G. Perarivalan, who is serving a life term in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, the Supreme Court was informed on Thursday.
A bench of Justices L. Nageswara Rao, S. Abdul Nazeer and Indu Malhotra, hearing a plea of the 46-year-old convict seeking suspension of his life sentence in the case till the MDMA probe is completed, posted the matter for further hearing after four weeks. ....
