Coronavirus: EU channels critical support to India via EU Civil Protection Mechanism

A shipment of urgently needed oxygen, medicine and equipment will be delivered over the coming days by EU Member States to India, following the country’s request for support through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which is coordinated by the Emergency Response Coordination Centre of the European Commission.
The offers of support from EU Member States via the Mechanism currently include:
Ireland: 700 oxygen concentrators; 1 oxygen generator; 365 ventilators;
Belgium: 9,000 doses of antiviral medicines Remdesivir;
Romania: 80 oxygen concentrators and 75 oxygen cylinders;
Luxembourg: 58 ventilators;
Sweden 120 ventilators.
This support has been made in line with the coordinated effort by EU Member States currently underway to pool their resources in responding rapidly to tackle the alarming epidemiological situation in India. ....

Assisting India in its fight against COVID-19, the European Union (EU) on Tuesday announced that its Member States were sending an urgent shipment of oxygen, medicine and equipment through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The critical support is being sent to India through a coordinated effort by the EU to pool resources from countries like Ireland, Belgium, Sweden etc in the wake of the second wave of Coronavirus in India. The body also stated that more help from countries like France and Germany was expected in the following days. ....

New Delhi: Several European Union (EU) member states have teamed up to assist India as it deals with the covid crisis by sending Oxygen Concentrators, Oxygen Generators, Remdesivir, Ventilators. The member states are sending supplies to India under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism that was activated to send the assistance. As per an official statement issued by the EU, India had placed a request for support through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which is coordinated by the Emergency Response Coordination Centre of the European Commission.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the EU Commission in a tweet-statement said, the EU stands with India. A first shipment of urgently needed oxygen, medicine and equipment will be delivered over the coming days under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. ....

New Delhi, Apr 27 (IANS): Following the UK, the US and Australia, the European Union has also come forward with a mega plan to extend medical aid to India in view of the nation-wide crisis triggered by the raging second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
Accordingly, a shipment of urgently needed oxygen, medicines and equipment will be delivered over the coming days by the EU member states to India.
