Yes, our ‘New Year’s Eve SNAFU’ was that bad … no, check that … It was ‘Situation. Normal: All. (Fouled). Up.” To wit: on the front lines during World War II – today’s over age 75 era, mind you – was when the acronym SNAFU was born into the American dictionary. And back then, the ‘F word” was far better fitting than the substitute: ‘fouled.’ Hark! it was used this past Thursday far more than ever before, by our citizens over 75 years old who were rightfully furious over the abuse they endured by a grossly incompetent Chattanooga Hamilton County Department of Heath. ....
Written by HH This evening, Tuesday, December 29 th New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a community COVID update reporting 35 new positive test results across all age demographics since last Tuesday s outcall. Moynihan says that although most cases are college-age young adults and middle-aged parents and only one is a senior over age 65. Cases continue to occur primarily from small gatherings of family and friends; so Moynihan says that New Canaan Health Director wants to remind everyone to please limit the number of people outside of immediate family members that you socialize with. The smaller your circle of contacts the less opportunity there is to being exposed to the virus. Parents are urged to remind your children to not let their guards down when they are in intimate settings of small groups of friends – they should always wear masks and social distance if they want to avoid being infected and bringing the virus home to family me ....
New Canaan sees highest number of COVID cases last week, transmission within families Written by HH This evening, New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan provided a coronavirus update reporting that last Thursday night’s outcall we have had 40 new positive test results reported for New Canaan residents across all age demographics, although the majority of cases continue to be middle-age adults and very few are seniors over age 65. Last week, we had our highest positive case total thus far in the pandemic with 66 reported positive cases. Our 6-days-a-week community testing at Lapham Center continued last week except for the snow day on Thursday. With most results back for this period, there were 10 positives out of 343 test results, or a positivity rate of 2.92%. The State of Connecticut s 7-days rolling average positivity rate continues to track at 6 to 7%, said Moynihan. ....

We have been seeing very few seniors over the age of 65 test positive in the last few weeks, said Moynihan. For the same period, the State DPH reported a total of 882 tests for New Canaan residents, or a positivity rate of 4.65%. By comparison, the State of Connecticut s 7-days rolling average positivity rate today is 6.97%. ....
