It’s a population that can “really benefit from services but it’s hard to know where to go, or you have a few different services providers and it’s difficult to co-ordinate between them,” said Kelsey Foster, a health promoter with Lambton public health.

New temporary COVID-19 testing site opening in Cambridge

KITCHENER --
Cambridge Memorial Hospital is opening a temporary COVID-19 testing site on Saturday.
The hospital announced on their website that those needing a COVID-19 test can get it by appointment only at Langs at 1145 Concession Road.
“We are grateful for Grand River Hospital for stepping on such short notice to help those needing and wanting a COVID test,” said Trevor Clark, VP of Finance and Corporate Services & CFO at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in a release. “However, for some people, it is either very difficult to travel. For this reason and with the help of our Ontario Health Team partner Langs, we opened up a temporary location in our community.”

United Way Perth Huron’s Social Research and Planning Council has taken a closer look at the state of the region’s mental health and addiction supports as local service providers prepare to promote Canadian Mental Health Week over the next several days.
“What we’re trying to do is help the community understand that service providers are working together in a co-ordinated fashion across the region to improve those services,” said Ryan Erb, the executive director of the local United Way. “We need to make the system better and we need to make it more available to people. What we’re really concerned about, and have been concerned about for a long time, is that the demand for service continues to far outpace the availability of the services being provided.”

Renfrew County one step closer to having Ontario Health Team

Article content
As part of the provincial initiative to make health care more collaborative, integrated and patient-centred, a local team comprised of dozens of health and social service partners has now submitted an application to become an Ontario Health Team (OHT) for the area.
Once approved, it is hoped that the new Ontario Health Team will make it easier for people to get the right care, at the right time, in the right place, according to a release issued by the Ontario Health Team Communication and Engagement Group for Network 24.

'Collaboration' key to healthy OHTs: MD

The COVID-19 Community Vaccine Hub, held at GFL Memorial Gardens, is a “concrete example” of what an Ontario Health Team “should be,” says an Algoma OHT tri-chair.
Dr. David Fera says without the Algoma OHT, which planned large-scale vaccinations since early January, clinics would be spread out; locations would include Sault Area Hospital, Group Health Centre and pharmacies.

“And all of this would have been done with very little co-ordination,” Fera told this week’s SAH board of directors meeting, held virtually.
