Also known as Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, is celebrated on June 27 by the universal Church.
The devotion to this Marian advocation revolves around the picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, painted on wood, with background of gold. It is Byzantine in style and is supposed to have been painted in the thirteenth century. It represents the Mother of God holding the Divine Child while the Archangels Michael and Gabriel presenting Him the instruments of His Passion. Over the figures in the picture are some Greek letters which form the abbreviated words Mother of God, Jesus Christ, Archangel Michael, and Archangel Gabriel respectively. The icon was brought to Rome towards the end of the fifteenth century by a pious merchant, who, dying there, ordered by his will that the picture should be exposed in a church for public veneration. Augustinian Father Augustine Michael “Gus” Esposito, a widely known and admired religious priest, spiritual director, mentor to seminarians, educator and preacher died Jan. 9 at Bryn Mawr Hospital from COVID-19. He was 69 and in the 47th year of religious life.
Father Esposito was a professor of Spanish, spiritual director and head of the apostolic formation program at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood.
Bishop Timothy Senior, seminary rector, said in a statement that it was “with sadness” that he informed the seminary community of Father Esposito’s death in the hospital, where “his three sisters were with him praying as he died.” ....

A religious charity in Ontario will ask the council of King Township on Monday for support in its quest for a minister s zoning order that would enable it to redevelop land it owns on the province s Greenbelt.
The Augustinian Fathers (Ontario), Inc., a registered charity, sent a letter on Nov. 25 to the council asking it to endorse its request and it has drafted a motion that it hopes the council approves. ....
