IATA bats for standardized protocols to restart pandemic-hit tourism, eyes Travel Pass rollout by July

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is counting on the standardization of protocols for travelers to jump-start the pandemic-hit global tourism industry.
Speaking to CNN Philippines The Exchange, IATA Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific Conrad Clifford lamented how differences in travel protocols - not only among countries but within nations like the Philippines itself are a real problem, making it difficult for airlines to handle these effectively.
That s why as much as possible, using our Travel Pass, we d like governments to standardize an approach. We ve been working with the WHO (World Health Organization) on a standard certification. We d like to see standard protocols, ideally globally; it would really help restart [tourism], Clifford said. ....

Airline rescues and restructuring gathering speed, but headwinds abound

MALAYSIA Airlines Bhd (MAS) appears to have a head start on its closest rivals AirAsia Group Bhd, AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) and Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd after closing a restructuring deal that sees it emerging with a stronger balance sheet, having eliminated some RM10 billion in debt.
Last week, the UK court approved the national airline’s plan to restructure more than RM15 billion in liabilities, which effectively removes “decades-long legacy issues in its balance sheet”, its parent Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG) says. The plan includes a RM3.6 billion lifeline from its sole shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd to support the carrier’s new five-year business plan, which envisages MAS returning to profitability from 2022. ....

PETALING JAYA, Feb 18 Malaysia Airlines has pledged to create more career opportunities for women in the male-dominated aviation industry by 2025.
The national carrier has joined hands with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to boost gender balance in the industry through the 25by2025 initiative.
The voluntary initiative calls on all aviation stakeholders to strengthen and improve female representation in the industry by 25 per cent or up to a minimum of 25 per cent by 2025. ....

MAS joins global initiative to increase women's representation in aviation industry

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian Airlines has joined a global initiative that aims to increase women s representation in the aviation industry by up to 25%.
The airline joined the 25by2025 initiative by International Air Transport Association (IATA) in a bid to create more career opportunities for women and championing gender balance in the aviation industry.
The 25by2025 initiative is a platform across the aviation industry to share best practices and to monitor goals yearly to accelerate the industry’s push to create a gender-balanced workplace.
A voluntary initiative which is supported by 57 signatories globally to date, it is expected to increase the female representation in the industry by 25%, or up to a minimum of 25% by 2025. ....
