LONDON, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) Since the start of 2021, primary schools in England have been reporting a big increase of pupil-attending compared to the previous national lockdowns, raising alarm among headteachers and other teaching staff.
A survey by Teacher Tapp, an app asking teachers three questions each day and then allowing them to find out how other teachers answered the questions, found that one in six primary schools in England reported that 30 percent or more of their normal roll was attending in person this week, far more than in the first week of the lockdown in March last year. ....

Parents take children to jobs in wake of school closures following latest lockdown
Industry bodies including the RIBA are calling for more staff in the sector to get key worker status after it emerged some were having to take their children to sites following the closure of schools to most pupils as part of the latest lockdown.
While the government is telling most of England’s working population to stay and work from home, construction is being urged to stay open to boost the economy.

Exclusive: Deprived school children still denied access to computers and education

Figures given exclusively to ITV News have uncovered that children are still being denied a proper education because they can t get the equipment they need.
The survey of teachers exposes the painfully slow progress in getting them access to laptops and the internet for classes at home.
It also reveals a huge gulf between rich and poor pupils when it comes to having adequate tools to learn online.
The poll carried out for the Sutton Trust by Teacher Tapp shows
7% of schools in England said all of their pupils had access to a device in March compared to just 10% now. ....
