For years, as he mastered a 4D painting craft that felt like an evolution on 2D, he still felt grounded in a traditional aesthetic that was also a throwback. It was such a fascinating, intriguing body of work. Neate s return so to speak to 2D is once again stunning and immersive, a body of work that feels more contemporary and in response to the pandemic worldview. But it feels fresh, like only Neate can create. Madalena remains, still, a powerful examination of dimensionality with paint and surface. “For this new body of work I wanted to revert back to the traditional 2D painted canvas, Neate says. I wanted to capture daily life in and around Vila Madalena, an area in Sao Paulo where I live. With such a diverse mix of people in Sao Paulo I wanted to create a unity amongst the figures I pain ....
A Rowley Regis man has been given a suspended jail sentence after admitting weapons charges. Daemon Maher, aged 36 of Harvest Road, pleaded guilty to ‘buying or acquiring a weapon that discharged electricity’, and having an extendable baton in St Giles Avenue. He was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £313 in costs. Magistrates said the offences were serious, but the weapons were not used in dangerous circumstances. Other recent cases at Dudley Magistrates Court included: A Cradley man caught with a lock knife in Lye has been jailed for six months and two weeks. Mark Anthony Edwards, aged 35, of St Annes Court, denied the offence but was found guilty. He admitted breaching the terms of a previous suspended sentence of 12 weeks for failing to provide a breath test when suspected of drink-driving, and failing to surrender to custody while on bail. He was ordered to pay £149 costs. ....
