County approves resignation of IT tech who says he was fired

Parker County commissioners ignored the protests of a now-former county IT employee as they voted unanimously to accept a resignation statement he said he never submitted to county officials.
They fired me and they re trying to make it sound like I resigned my position, which is untrue, Adam Wroblski, a network technician for the county, told the
Weatherford Democrat following a special meeting Monday afternoon.
When asked what might have led up to Monday s vote, Wroblski said he had been communicating with a representative of ImageNet Consulting, which the county has contracted with for IT services, through text messages. ....

TRC signs charter to formalise support for Region’s small businesses
Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio today (March 16) formalised Toowoomba Regional Council’s support for thousands of small businesses when he joined Queensland Small Business Commissioner Maree Adshead to sign the Small Business Friendly Councils charter.
Mayor Antonio said signing the charter underlined Council’s commitment to more than 15,700 small businesses and sole operators across the Region.
“Council is pleased to formalise its support for our Region’s small businesses by signing the charter, which is an initiative of the State Government’s Small Business commissioner,” Mayor Antonio said. ....

‘Unconstitutional, indefensible’: Lawyers bash proposed changes to charity sector

If proposed amendments to Australia’s charity sector pass, the sector’s ability to provide access to justice will be diminished, and the capacity of corporate lawyers to provide pro bono will also be hindered.
The federal government recently issued proposed amendments to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission’s governance standard 3, together with an exposure draft that could, lawyers said, very significantly broaden the basis upon which the ACNC Commissioner could deregister a charity.
Should the changes go through, a charity may be able to be deregistered in cases extending beyond indictable offences and those attractive civil penalties of 60 penalty units, or for failing to take reasonable steps to ensure a charity’s resources are not used to promote or support unlawful conduct. ....
