At the headquarters of the Multnomah County Department of Health, nine workers at the county s HIV clinic tested positive for COVID-19, forcing numerous others to quarantine and the clinic to shutter its doors for a four-day stretch in mid-December.
At the county s Donald E. Long Detention Center for juveniles, nine workers and three youth tested positive since the end of November, and jails operated by the Multnomah County Sheriff s Office have seen outbreaks of their own, with 13 inmates and 30 employees infected. ....

Special Planning Commission meeting to address new building standards and cannabis permit

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be a special meeting of the South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.
First on the agenda is a possible vote on an update to City Code and the design standards included in it after receiving a grant from the State to do so. There have been public workshops and meetings with contractors and developers, along with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), to get their input on the updates the standards.
The new standards would reduce the minimum parking requirement for studio and one-bedroom units from two spaces to one space. The proposed standards also replace the requirement for a parking study and use permit to further reduce the standards for multi-family projects but place a deed restriction on the property which would make the property owner responsible for parking management to reduce impacts on a neighborhood. OWENSBORO, Ky (WFIE) - Newly elected Owensboro city leaders were sworn in at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
Mayor Tom Watson, Mayor Pro Tem Larry Maglinger, and Commissioners Mark Castlen, Bob Glenn and Jeff Sanford took their oath of office to kick off the new year.
Also on the agenda, the Commissioners hear the first reading of an ordinance to change city elections. If passed, the ordinance would see a primary race established for future Mayor and Commissioner races. ....

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) - The Tuscaloosa County Commission made a decision that could help spur the county’s economy and also support transportation on a road that is about to experience a lot more traffic.
Commissioners voted to pay $64,000 for engineering work on Will Walker Road. This will support a sequencing facility Mercedes Benz will use in the construction of electric cars that will be built at the plant.
The project will reconfigure about a thousand feet of road near M-Class boulevard. Soon a lot more traffic will be going back and forth from there. ....
