Police Union, Lax Oversight Allow Florida Cop To Survive Three Arrests And Seven Firings

Tim Cushing
“I can’t believe that,” he said. “I’m not trying to smile. I just . damn!”
That was in 2011, when Sgt. Bosque wasn t seen as quite as terrible as he is now. At that point, the officer who seemed to see himself as the second coming of Vic Mackey only had five firings (and three arrests) to his name.
Accusations of misconduct have piled up against this officer. The Herald-Tribune found 40 internal affairs cases involving Bosque, including multiple excessive force claims. Those reports found that Bosque head butted a man, splitting his lip open. Or that he cracked open another man s head with a leg sweep. Or the time he smacked a juvenile detainee. On top of that they note that he s been caught defying orders, lying to supervisors, and falsifying paperwork. His off-duty life seems just as horrifying, with Bosque facing multiple accusations from women alleging domestic violence and stalking. ....

Florida police officer fired for the 7th time says he'll get his job back again

Florida police officer fired for the 7th time says he’ll get his job back again
Brian Niemietz
A south Florida cop who can’t remember whether he’s been fired seven times or eight is out of a job again but believes he’ll get it back, again, too.
The Daily Beast reports that Sgt. German Bosque was cut loose by the Opa-Locka police department this week after allegedly instructing a subordinate who failed to secure a crime scene where a gun went missing to file a false report.
Bosque’s most recent act of alleged misconduct occurred in October when police were called about an abandoned firearm that had been discovered under a boat in someone’s backyard. According to the Miami Herald, the officer who was supposed to have been watching the scene while waiting for detectives to arrive left his post, and someone replaced the real gun with a pellet gun. The other firearm was believed to have been used in a shooting. ....

Man Put in Chokehold During Arrest; Technique Now Banned by Department

Updated on November 13, 2020 at 9:47 am
Cellphone video, exclusively obtained by NBC 6 Investigators, shows Medley Police officers arresting Joshua Rodriguez inside his then home in January 2019.
The video begins when then Sergeant German Gutierrez puts Rodriguez in a chokehold while two other Medley Police officers try to restrain him.
While the department allowed the use of chokeholds at the time, like other law enforcement agencies in South Florida, it has since banned its use “except in authorized deadly force situations.”
“You guys don’t have a warrant,” Rodriguez, who is on his feet, can be heard saying - while an officer tells him, “Don’t make me hurt you. I don’t want to hurt.” ....
