CHESHIRE â The School Modernization Committee is beginning to finalize which plans it will ultimately recommend to the Town Council for modernizing school buildings.
Recently, the committeeÂ asked its members to vote on various renovation scenarios in order to determine which they felt would be best for the community. The survey, designed by the groupâs Options Subcommittee, was distributed to members and, at a meeting earlier this month, Committee Chair Jen Bates presented the results to the group.
Bates indicated that there were 13 different scenarios included in the survey, and ultimately six of them received the greatest number of votes. ....

CHESHIRE âÂ The Board of Education met last week to approve aÂ new three-yearÂ contract for school administrators.
Superintendent of Schools Jeff Solan gave a brief overview of the events thatÂ followed the rejection of theÂ last contract recommendation,Â which was presented to the Town Council in November.
âThe Town ultimately rejected the contract we submitted to them in November that we all unanimously agreed upon,â he said at the Jan. 5 special meeting. âI met with Vin (Masicana, Chief Operations Officer) and the administrative negotiations team and we talked about the fact that arbitration would be the next step and, unfortunately, with everything else that everyone is juggling right now, I made the decision.to look ....

CHESHIRE â The School Modernization Committee presented options to the Town Council and public last month, and now some costs are being attached to theÂ proposals â numbers that have raised concerns among members of both groups.
âI have spoken with the councilors and their major concerns lie with being included in the process and in the costs of the options presented,â said Councilor Sylvia Nichols. âThe Councilors must know that the options are fiscally responsible, and they will look at all alternatives to find a better cost. The long-term plan of $200 million will not fly with them, the Committee will lose them, and a Council majority is needed to vote to approve ....
