Avon seeks to legitimize use of off-highway vehicles on public roads

Rocky Mountain Sport Riders/Special to the Daily
The town of Avon took its first steps to addressing the issue of off-highway vehicle use in Wildridge. The town will be drafting an ordinance that will allow off-highway vehicles to drive on Avon town streets, particularly in the Wildridge community. Avon does not yet have a date that it will put the ordinance before residents.
The exact language and scope of the ordinance has yet to be determined, but the Town Council is eager to begin legitimizing something that has been a gray area for many years.
The ordinance will address the ability of residents and visitors to use public roads to access Forest Service Road 779 and 771.1b through Wildridge. This will not address motorized vehicle use on the Forest Service Roads themselves. The designation of off-highway vehicles includes motorized vehicles such as off-road dirt bikes, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and RZR side-by-sides.

What to Expect From 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' Reunion Special, According to Host Andy Cohen

KUWTK. Cohen recently called into SiriusXM's
Reality Checked and spoke with SiriusXM host Amy Phillips about hosting the special.
"We're going to cover all 20 seasons of
Keeping Up With the Kardashians, in a kind of
Housewives-style reunion show," he shared. "Nothing's off-limits with this crew. I don't know if I can even say when we're filming it, but we're filming it."
Cohen said they were going all out for the special, including filming it on a sound stage.
"It will look like a real reunion show that you know and love, and this is something that I've wanted to do for a long time, and then when they announced that it was their final season, I was like, 'We've got to do this. We have to do this the right way, you know?'" he shared.

Mountain Towns Are Closing Loopholes In Their Plastic Bag Bans After Walmart Proposes Thicker, 'Reusable' Plastic Bags

Kevin J. Beaty/Denverite
A plastic shopping bag is surrounded by a circle of liquid somewhere in Athmar Park. Dec. 3, 2019.
"Has anyone on this Zoom call actually touched one of these bags?" asked Councilor Amy Phillips at an Avon Town Council meeting last month.
"I did," said Councilor Russell Andrade. "My first impression was that it definitely felt like a disposable, one-use bag."
Avon banned plastic bags in 2018 from all retailers, with the purpose to protect the public health, safety and welfare from pollution-related to plastic bags. Many Colorado mountain towns have adopted similar laws to keep them out of rivers, trees, landfills and recycling centers — the bags jam up machinery.

Culpovich—a parade that involved the Rockport Fire and Police department and over 100 Rockport residents—our beloved Postmaster’s name was read into the Congressional Record by Chellie Pingree, who in her letter to Culpovich stated, “It is because of people like you, Steve, that Maine has a reputation for being “the way life should be... you will be missed by many.”
