Read Article LIVERMORE FALLS Now that the Town Office is operating with a full staff, it will no longer be closed Wednesday mornings beginning Aug. 2. Town Manager Amanda Allen made the announcement Tuesday night. The office will be open five days a week, she said, instead of 4 1/2. The office hours were reduced to the public this past fall so two staff members, including Allen who held several positions, could get caught up on work. A new treasurer, Rebecca Harmatys of Livermore, was hired earlier this month. A new sewer clerk, Doris Austin of Turner, was appointed in June. Selectmen appointed Amy Byron of Livermore as town clerk in May. Allen had held all of the positions at once. She was hired as town manager in May after serving as interim town manager since July 2020. ....
Read Article LIVERMORE FALLS A Facebook page will be created to keep residents informed of what is going on in town government and other useful information. Selectmen had approved the idea previously but wanted a policy in place. The board approved the Social Media Policy on Tuesday. Town Clerk Amy Byron said she used a Maine Management Association policy and made it pertinent to the town. Byron and Town Manager Amanda Allen will administer it. Selectmen also welcomed newly elected board members Jim Long and William Kenniston. They join Selectmen Jeff Bryant, Ernie Souther and Rodney Heikkinen. The board reelected Bryant as chairman and Souther as vice chairman. The latter position has not been filled for several years. ....

Read Article LIVERMORE Selectpersons on Tuesday were told the town got a bill for $3,615 last week from the IRS due to misapplication of a payment. “That represents what they say is owed for the first quarter of 2020,” Administrative Assistant Aaron Miller said. “What happened was the Jan. 16 payment was applied to the first quarter of 2019 instead of 2020. Because of that, it throws off our tax deposits for 2020.” Miller said Treasurer Mary Castonguay spoke with the IRS on Friday. A six-week hold was put on the account to give time to straighten it out, reconcile it on the town’s end and make sure the same things are being seen by both parties, he said. ....
