Queensland border closures 'scaring people off' visiting, experts warn

Experts say Queensland should not count on hordes of tourists from southern states rushing north now the border with NSW has reopened, with pandemic uncertainty still causing concern for travellers.
Ahead of restrictions for travellers from greater Sydney being lifted on Monday, Queensland Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the government welcomed travellers from other states and encouraged them to spend time in Queensland during Easter.
Experts say Queensland can’t expect pre-pandemic levels of tourists over Easter, with travellers changing their behaviour because of constant lockdowns.

Mr Hinchliffe pointed to the revenue from interstate visitors to Queensland in 2019, estimated to be about $735 million, with $350 million from NSW travellers, as a target for this year’s tourist season. ....
