Researchers suggest 3 ways to ensure effective distribution of Covid-19 vaccines

Researchers at Binghamton University suggest three ways that can ensure effective and fair distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.
One of the authors, Professor Nicole Hossoun said in a statement: “Although many people in rich countries will receive a vaccine for Covid-19 this year, many people in poor countries will likely have to wait years to get one.”
Hossoun added: “Ethical vaccine allocation requires closing this gap and ensuring that everyone can access a vaccine as soon as possible. We should increase vaccine manufacturing, distribution, and uptake. Rich countries should not get to prioritise their populations first.”
According to the researchers, all the methods, so far, fall short in ensuring equal allocation of coronavirus vaccines. Hence, they suggested some methods that can improve vaccine distribution. These include: ....

Chance Bonar, a Ph.D. candidate at Harvard, tilts his screen while teaching an online class from his dorm in April. New research shows students in classes are often the ones prompting instances of Zoombombing, which can interrupt online classes.
The Zoombombing trend, where digital disruptors join online meetings and spew hateful comments, play loud music and share lewd content, thankfully seems to have died down in recent months.
As staff, students and faculty at some colleges approach nearly a year of working and studying remotely, perhaps the novelty of ruining someone’s day by inviting strangers to commandeer their conference call has worn off. Some would-be intruders may have been spooked by the FBI encouraging people to report incidents of Zoombombing as cybercrimes. Or perhaps meeting hosts have simply taken measures to make it more difficult for unwanted visitors to gain access. ....

Legacies of conflict: despite huge progress, the landmine crisis continues
10 Feb
2021
The international effort to stem the landmine crisis has been a humanitarian success story. The 2019 casualty numbers, however, reveal there is work yet to be done
Signatories to the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty – which earned the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize – are obligated to cease production and development; to destroy stockpiles within four years; and to clear areas contaminated with anti-personnel mines within ten years. Some 159 countries have completed the destruction of stockpiles and 33 are now considered to be landmine free.
There’s still work to be done, however. Worldwide, 60 states are contaminated with landmines, 32 of which are signatories to the Mine Ban Treaty. Just six of these are on target to reach the 2025 deadline for full landmine clearance and sev ....
