Excavators working in back gardens in the Nottingham town of Lenton uncovered a string of Medieval skeletons, pottery, and more importantly, William the Conqueror s lost priory. The period covered the Domesday Book era of the land, which Nottingham was heavily featured in. The book, described as the Great Survey of much of England and Wales, was completed on the order of King William the Conqueror in 1086. ....

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A new study shows the heroes working on the front lines in health care in hospital emergency departments are at increased risk for anxiety, burnout, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder while coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The study, published in Annals of Emergency Medicine in February was conducted in 20 emergency departments at hospitals in the United States.
The emergency department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham participated in the study, part of the COVID-19 Evaluation of Risks in Emergency Departments Project, or COVERED study. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Bells tolled at the University of Virginia’s chapel on Wednesday afternoon commemorating Liberation and Freedom Day, the start of a long path to freedom for enslaved laborers.
In a virtual panel called “Marching Toward Emancipation: Commemorating the Arrival of Union Troops in Charlottesville,” hosted by the Lifetime Learning program at UVA’s Office of Engagement, historians and researchers reflected on the importance of the historic date. ....

For now life is flourishing on our oxygen-rich planet, but Earth wasn t always that way – and scientists have predicted that, in the future, the atmosphere will revert back to one that s rich in methane and low in oxygen.
 
This probably won t happen for another billion years or so. But when the change comes, it s going to happen fairly rapidly, the study suggests.
This shift will take the planet back to something like the state it was in before what s known as the Great Oxidation Event (GOE) around 2.4 billion years ago.
What s more, the researchers behind the new study say that atmospheric oxygen is unlikely to be a permanent feature of habitable worlds in general, which has implications for our efforts to detect signs of life further out in the Universe. ....
