More COVID-19 vaccination sites are coming online in Worcester as the city continues to receive limited doses.
During a COVID briefing on Thursday, City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. outlined sites where eligible members of the community could receive the vaccine, however, regular appointments at many of the locations aren’t available due to uncertain dose quantities.
“I want to caution folks that there are not set times. They are not set allotments, so it’s going to be a little haphazard,” Augustus said. “But there are going to be availabilities on a regular basis. Folks should continue to check.”
WORCESTER Starting Feb. 16, the city will be home to the state’s next mass COVID-19 vaccination supersite.
City officials and local health care partners met Thursday at the Wellness Center at Worcester State University, where in fewer than two weeks the operation could be administering up to 1,000 vaccines daily.
The 101,000-square-foot wellness center was completed in 2016, and is fully accessible, said Worcester State University President Barry Maloney.
The site will be available to residents statewide by appointment only, and will follow the state’s vaccine rollout guidelines and prioritization. This week began Phase 2 of the rollout, which includes residents 75 years old or older.
