MetaProp, a leading property technology (PropTech) venture capital firm, recently announced it added industry heavyweight Monica OâNeill to its leadership team as Partner. Over the past 30 years, OâNeill has built successful emerging and mid-sized investment management firms in the U.S. and Europe, including raising more than $10B as a Partner and Head of Investor Relations for real estate private equity firms AEW and Tristan Capital Partners. With MetaProp, OâNeill is charged with building the firmâs new institutional client program. She will oversee investor relations for North and South American, European, and Asian endowments, foundations, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and insurance companies. Dive Brief: Energy service providers offering off-balance sheet efficiency products have seen rapid growth in the number of deals signed each year, panelists said Wednesday at the U.S. Department of Energy s Better Buildings summit. Financing companies associated with DOE s Better Buildings program have collectively reported about a 2.5x increase in the amount of deals [done annually] since they joined the program, said Joe Indvik, head of clean energy finance and carbon solutions at RE Tech Advisors. A 2017 market report by Navigant (now Guidehouse) estimated Energy Efficiency as a Service (EEaS) could become a $221 billion market by 2026, up from about $50 billion in 2017. Panelists said that growth is showing up in the market, but also warned it is fueled by financing and project complexities that companies want to avoid. ....

They want Enbirdge to abide by Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s order to shut down Line 5 in the Straits of Mackinac. In November 2020, Governor Whitmer revoked the easement for Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 twin pipelines through the Straits of Mackinac, and gave the company 180 days to shut down that section of the pipelines, which carry light crude oil and natural gas liquids. ....

The state’s arguments were part of its appeal of a lower court decision in favor of the Online Merchants Guild, which won a preliminary injunction after suing Cameron for violations of the dormant commerce and due process clauses. ....
