A roughly half-mile section of Interstate 30 in downtown Little Rock will be closed and require detours all next weekend to accommodate work on the nearly $1 billion 30 Crossing project.
The detours onto the frontage roads between East Sixth Street and Interstate 630 will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and last through 5 a.m. Monday to allow the contractor to remove the East Ninth Street overpass to replace it, the Arkansas Department of Transportation announced last week. ....

All that remains for an updated driverless-vehicle bill in Arkansas is the signature of Governor Asa Hutchinson. House Bill 1562, which amends Arkansas’ 2019 pilot program for autonomous vehicles was approved by a unanimous vote of the Arkansas House of Representatives in March, and was approved by a unanimous vote of the Arkansas Senate earlier this month.
The bill, entitled “An Act to Amend the Law Concerning Autonomous Vehicles; and for Other Purposes” is expected to soon become law. It will transition from the previous “pilot program” to a formalized law allowing autonomous trucks and cars to travel Arkansas roads. The Arkansas Highway Commission will regulate those vehicles. ....

Area highway project on hold as ArDOT seeks $121M in reimbursements

A project in North Central Arkansas is among five the Arkansas Department of Transportation has identified to be used to reimburse its Amendment 91 account a total of over $121 million the state Supreme Court says the agency illegally spent on two other projects.
The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chip Welch has given the department 60 days to reimburse the account.
The department already has reimbursed the account over $62 million, according to documents submitted in a case before Welch.
The list of five identified projects includes widening a section of U.S. 65 in Boone County.
At issue was over $183 million for projects to improve the Interstate 30 corridor through downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock, also called 30 Crossing, and to widen a section of Interstate 630 in west Little Rock. ....

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas A bid for improvements to a roadway in Washington County has been approved by the Arkansas State Highway Commission, according to Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) officials.
The purpose of the project is to improve the Highway 16/112 Spur interchange of Wedington Drive and I-49.
It will include improvements to Wedington Drive between Salem Road and Futrall Drive, according to the City of Fayetteville. ....
