Police Blotter: Heavy Breathing Seemed Suspicious; Man Not Following The Rules About Having Women In His Home

A man on Gunbarrel Road called police to say he received a call to his room phone where the person on the other end was just breathing heavily. He just wanted to report it as suspicious.

A woman working at the Holiday Inn on Chestnut Street said a man wearing a green shirt and khaki pants came in and asked for help. When she asked what she could help with, the man began cursing and flipping her off and attempted to set off the fire alarm. He was not there when police arrived and the employee said she didn t want to press charges but that she wanted the incident documented. ....

Newly elected City Council member Raquetta Dotley’s early life in Chattanooga included living in the Boone-Hysinger, later Harriet Tubman, housing project off Roanoke Avenue in East Chattanooga.

But in just a few years, she has gone from being part of a family in slight need to someone who is ready to help lead.

On March 2, she edged Ken Hays, the former chief of staff under Chattanooga Mayor Jon Kinsey and former CEO of The Enterprise Center, to win the open District 7 seat that had been vacated when former Councilman Erskine Oglesby decided to make an unsuccessful bid for mayor. ....

Hamilton County Schools Partners With PEF To Expand Access To eLabs

The Public Education Foundation, in partnership with Hamilton County Schools, announced a $1 million investment from an anonymous donor to open 15 new eLabs in HCS and to support the further development of the world-leading eLab network.

Officials said, HCS eLabs provide students with rich learning opportunities in engineering, computing and environmental technology through hands-on activities with digital fabrication equipment (including 3D printing, micro-computing and robotics).
Now, more than ever, students need opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in science, technology, and innovation. The HCS eLabs provide a state-of-the-art learning environment where students can hone those skills as they develop resiliency and confidence solving real-world problems. ....

The seniors at Beech Grove High School outside Indianapolis watched Wednesday s riot at the U.S. Capitol unfold on social media sites such as Twitter. As supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the building, the teens found themselves disappointed.
Disappointed in the rioters. Disappointed in the country’s political leaders. Disappointed in the law enforcement response and the double standard they saw in it. Disappointed in the media portrayal.
“There are a lot of double standards,” Guerrero said. “If that had been a different protesting group, would there have been a completely different reaction? Would there have been more force?” ....
