ALTON The Alton Community Service League met May 10 at Camp Warren Levis for their first in-person meeting this year.
Thanks to the hard work of Cathy Droste, chair of the Ways and Means Committee, and the members at large, the ACSL was able to fund the following grants to the community totaling $5, 508: Serving Area Kids, All God’s Children, Alton Youth Symphony, Girl Scouts of Southern Il.,Thrive Metro East, and Alton Juneteenth Committee. ....

EDWARDSVILLE E3 Advocacy, LLC, is conducting a shoe drive to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and the Watershed Nature Center in Edwardsville.
E3 Advocacy will be collecting shoes through Monday, May 31. E3 Advocacy will earn funds based on the total weight of the shoes collected. Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated footwear, with the realized funds going to the two causes. ....

WOOD RIVER A state grant for nearly half a million dollars will be used by Riverbend Family Ministries (RFM) to more than triple its size.
State officials on Thursday announced RFM will receive a Rebuild Illinois grant of $493,892 to help it move across the street from the current 7,000-square-foot building at 133 E. Ferguson Ave. in Wood River to a 24,000-square-foot building at 144 E. Ferguson Ave. formerly occupied by TR’s Café. ....

With the announcement of a nearly half-million dollar Rebuild Illinois Shovel Ready Site grant, the move of Riverbend Family Ministries into a larger space is about to pick up steam. The plan to move to a larger location across the street at the former Madison’s Tea Room, on E. Ferguson Avenue in Wood River should resume in about a month.
Only 11 projects around the state were selected to be grant awardees. RFM founder and Executive Director Tammy Iskarous tells The Big Z this will enable them to expand their ability to serve. ....
