Full permission has now been awarded to press on with the building 60 homes on 4.2 acres of land known as \ plots 2 & 3\ near the Llangefni Coleg Menai campus. Screengrab from planning documents. Planners have signed off on a project to build 60 affordable homes on the outskirts of Llangefni. These proposals form part of plans that were given outline planning approval in 2017, including a new engineering centre, a hotel, restaurant and up to 153 homes at the town’s Coleg Menai campus. But with the college having sold part of the site to a north Wales housing association in 2019, full permission has now been awarded to press on with the building 60 homes on 4.2 acres of land known as ‘plots 2 & 3.’

Contentious plans to build affordable homes in a coastal village have been approved only thanks to the casting vote of Anglesey Council’s Planning Committee chair. Clwyd Alyn housing had applied to build the 17 homes near Craig y Don and Cherry Tree Close in Benllech, where the average property price is nearly £250,000. But despite the housing association citing the need for such housing, claims that it represented “over-development” saw planning committee members refuse the application when first asked to make a decision in February.
A LOCAL social housing company has donated boxes full of food and other items to several North Wales foodbanks in its Reverse Advent scheme. ClwydAlyn Housing s Reverse Advent Calendar sees staff members and residents in supported living facilities donate an item each day throughout November ready to deliver to a local food bank in early December. This means food banks will have time to make up food parcels and distribute the contents before Christmas. This year s scheme has been a huge success, with enough items collected to benefit nine North Wales foodbanks. The company collected the items at each of its supported living facilities in North Wales, and to allow staff that have been working from home the chance to donate, the company set up a PayPal donation page - which raised over £70.
