Workers to be first in line : New Haven adopts right-of recall for hotel jobs

NEW HAVEN When local hotels begin to recover from the pandemic, laid-off employees should be the first ones re-pinning name badges to their lapels.
That’s the scenario the Board of Alders approved in a “right to recall” ordinance that will strengthen the ability of laid-off hotel workers to return to their former jobs when the hotel industry begins hiring again. Under the ordinance, hotels would hire workers back to their old positions, or a similar position, in the order of how many years the employee had worked their positions. ....
