Communication faculty member presents at national broadcasting convention Share on: Westminster College School of Communication Lecturer Bradley Weaver presented at the annual Broadcast Education Association Convention held virtually on Thursday, April 15, and offered a look at how communication students continued developing quality productions during the pandemic. Weaver, who also serves as the student media adviser, presented “Successful Student Productions Despite the Pandemic” as part of the perennial Small College Production Showcase panel. He shared content Westminster students produced in their courses over the past year for Titan Radio, WCN Cable Network and the student newspaper The Holcad. The presentation included the backstory of how staff and faculty in the School of Communication followed health and safety protocols during the pandemic, allowing for adapted sports broadcasts, television programs and production of online multimedia co ....

COBB Mrs. Ruth Ellen (Eakin) Cobb, 64, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday Feb. 17, 2021, in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins. She had been in declining health. Ruth was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Robert and Rose Eakin. On Jan. 8, 1984, in Elkins, she was married to Kenneth Russell Cobb, who preceded her in death in July 2020. She was also preceded in death by her newborn sister, Carroll Victoria Eakin. Surviving are two daughters, Kaitlyn Victoria Shaffer of Morgantown and Karen Alyssa Cobb of Elkins; one grandchild, Thea Shaffer; one son-in-law, S. Cole Shaffer; one sister, Kathryn Eakin of Elkins; one brother, Robert W. Eakin of Elkins; one sister-in-law, Sandra Cobb; two nieces, Stephanie Van den Bulk and Jane Cobb; one nephew, Brett Cobb; and multiple cousins. ....
Staff Writer WHEELING Five candidates are in the running to be Ohio County’s next administrator and among them are Wheeling’s fire chief, a current county employee, and three attorneys. Applicants had until Feb. 15 to submit their resumes to the County Commission Office. The office initially received six applications, but one candidate withdrew their interest after learning names of applicants would be released, according to Ohio County Solicitor Donald Tennant. Commissioners will now interview for the job Wheeling Fire Chief Larry Helms, current Ohio County Development Authority project director Randy Russell, and attorneys Ronald Musser of Wheeling, Owen Sullivan of Pittsburgh and Chris Ferro of Charleston. ....
