This week is World Breastfeeding Week and Wodonga Council’s Maternal Child Health nurses are here to help women breastfeed.
The theme of this year is Protect Breastfeeding: a shared responsibility. The theme reflects on how breastfeeding contributes to the survival, health and wellbeing of all.
The theme also acknowledges that although support at the individual level is very important, breastfeeding must be considered a public health issue that requires investment at all levels. The concept of ‘building back better’ after the COVID-19 pandemic will provide an opportunity to create a warm chain of support for breastfeeding that includes health systems, workplaces and communities at all levels of society. ....

No Cases Of Covid-19 Identified Locally In The Past 24 Hours
The Murrumbidgee Local Health District have reported there have been no cases of Covid-19 identified in the district in the past 24 hours.
Following the announcement of exposure sites in the District at Gundagai, Jindera and Hay, 684 people came forward for testing yesterday, with 107 tests in the Albury Local Government Area.
MLHD is working closely with Albury Wodonga Health and private pathology providers to improve access to testing clinics during this heightened increase in demand .
MLHD thanks people who have come forward for testing in effected communities and for their patience and understanding during this time. ....

Vic govt names hospitals, health services to share in $30m IT funding

Twenty-eight hospitals and health services across Victoria will benefit from a $30 million funding package aimed at upgrading IT infrastructure to protect against future cyber attacks.
Health minister Martin Foley revealed the hospitals and health services in line for investment – provided as part of the clinical technology refresh program in last year’s state budget – on Thursday.
It follows a spate of high-profile ransomware attacks over the last 18 months, the most recent of which impacted one of Melbourne’s largest metropolitan public health services, Eastern Health.
The $30 million funding will be used to “refresh older network infrastructure and replace end-of-life systems”, as well as “support the rollout of wi-fi at the bedside”, the government said. ....

Albury Wodonga Health Starts Jab Program
The very first COVID-19 vaccinations were distributed by Albury Wodonga Health yesterday.

Phase 1[a] frontline workers were some of the first to receive the Pfizer vaccine, including staff from the Emergency Department, COVID-19 testing clinic and Intensive Care Unit.
Among the first to receive a jab was Caroline Grealy, who is an Emergency Department Nurse Unit Manager and COVID Services worker.
“For me, there was no hesitation in rolling up my sleeve today. Being vaccinated is one of the greatest safeguards in the fight against COVID, and will help protect me, my loved ones, and my community,” she says. ....
