70 catalytic converters stolen from vehicles around Lancashire

Police warn: Stay vigilant
Drivers have been warned to keep vigilant following the recent theft at Deepdale Retail Park.
A Lancashire police spokesman said: Did you know that since last August, there have been around 70 catalytic convertors stolen from vehicles around the county? Just yesterday, two were stolen from cars parked at Deepdale Retail Park in Preston whilst their owners were busy.
We are asking people to be vigilant and if you see someone doing work on a car and suspect something isn’t quite right, please call us.

When it comes to fast food outlets Preston became something of a market leader in May 1965 when the first overseas branch of Kentucky Fried Chicken opened at No. 92 Fishergate sharing a frontage with the Wimpy Bar that in time became the Popinere Cafe (pictured, inset)before KFC expanded into the neighbouring space.
Fishergate has always been a popular place for cafes and restaurants with the KFC’s famous neighbour the Brucciani café, a delightful place for coffee and ice cream since 1932. While another cafe destined to remain in the mind of Preston folk was the Kardomah, which was run by John Victor Christian for 40 years until his retirement in 1966. Thousands of Preston people having popped in for a chat, a cuppa or lunch through the years. ....

He was just one of the people caught flouting coronavirus restrictions in Lancashire this week.
Lancashire Police said other incidents included a homeowner at a house party in Colne who told officers she was just ‘having a disco’.
Another case was two people from different addresses - one in Preston and one in Blackburn - who were stopped close to Preston Dock. They gave several reasons for being out together before eventually admitting they had met up to get a McDonald’s.
There was also a house party in Nelson, with people from several different addresses in attendance.
Between Friday (January 15th) and this morning (January 20th) police have issued 198 fixed penalty notices for breaches of the Covid-19 regulations which have taken place right across Lancashire. ....
