Three Teens Charged In Subway Slashing Spree That Injured Several People arrow A 16-year-old boy is among three teens facing robbery and weapons charges, after police say they rode the 4 train between two Manhattan subway stations and allegedly beat, slashed and robbed in a series of slashing incidents. The incidents, which took place early Friday, come amid the rise in violent crime across the subway system. Two other teens, an 18- and 19-year-old from Brooklyn and Bronx respectively, were also hit with the same charges. Gothamist/WNYC is withholding the names of the suspects charged. Police are still looking for a fourth person involved in the attack.

Authorities identify 7-year-old boy killed in N.J. house fire Updated Apr 09, 2021; Posted Apr 09, 2021 A 7-year-old boy died in a house fire Thursday on Astor Street in Newark, authorities said.Newark Department of Public Safety Facebook Share Sahir Hartfield died at the scene of the early Thursday blaze in the city’s South Ward, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Firefighters found the child’s body on the third floor of the Astor Street residence, authorities said. “(His) father escaped the home through the front door and attempted to re-enter via the roof” from the house next door, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara said Thursday. “He was removed from the roof by Newark firefighters via ground ladder.”

Newark NJ fire: 7-year-old boy dies in Astor Street blaze

A 7-year-old boy was killed in a Newark fire Thursday morning despite his father s attempt to re-enter the building, police said. The unidentified boy was found on the third floor of the building on Astor Street, which caught fire before 5 a.m., the Newark Department of Public Safety stated. The boy s father escaped through the front door and tried to go back inside through the roof, but firefighters pulled him back for his own safety.  Responders were unable to save the boy. Five people, two adults and three children, were in the building at the time of the fire, per Newark police. The survivors were taken to University Hospital for treatment.
