IPL postpones 2021 edition after Covid-19 cases emerge in 'bio-bubble' | Marketing

After holding an emergency meeting earlier in the day, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC), have decided to postpone the rest of the 2021 season of the tournament.
 
The IPL kicked off on 9 April in India. Last season s IPL was postponed from March to September, and shifted to the United Arab Emirates.
 
India then hosted England in a Test, ODI and T20 series across Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune with fans being allowed into stadiums in Chennai and Ahmedabad. 
 
With Covid-19 cases rising just before the start of the tournament, all IPL games were played behind closed doors and players along with staff members were in a secure bio-bubble . ....

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) is looking to move Australian players involved in the postponed 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) to Sri Lanka and Maldives before sending them home, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley said on Wednesday.
What the BCCI is working to do is to move the entire cohort out of India where they will wait until it s possible to return to Australia, Hockley told reporters in a press-conference Sydney.

London: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has termed the Indian cricket board’s (BCCI) decision to postpone the Indian Premier League sensible.
“Seems a very sensible decision to postpone the IPL .. Now cases have started to appear inside the bubble they had no other option.. Hope everyone stays safe in India and all the overseas players can find a way back to there families .. #IPL2021,” Vaughan tweeted on Tuesday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to indefinitely suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) after it emerged another player had tested positive for coronavirus. 
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said Tuesday all office bearers and council members have together decided after talking to all stakeholders including the franchises and broadcasters, agreeing that the IPL should be suspended for now.
The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect, read an advisory from the BCCI. ....

IPL 2021 postponed, BCCI to arrange for safe, secure passage for all participants
MUMBAI (Maharashtra): The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, in an emergency meeting unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect.
The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff, and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health, and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind.
“These are difficult times, especially in India and while we have tried to bring in some positivity and cheer, however, it is imperative that the tournament is now suspended and everyone goes back to their families and loved ones in these trying times,” the BCCI said in an official statement. ....
