Original Christus Gardens permanently closes downtown location


GATLINBURG — Along with the Gatlinburg SkyLift and Space Needle, Christus Gardens was one of the city’s first tourist attractions.
The downtown business, which has operated as Gatlinburg’s Christ Museum and Gardens for the past several years, is permanently closed.
According to the attraction’s website, “We’re saddened to say our museum has closed due to loss of property lease. Thank you for your support.”
Mark Pedro, who served as the museum’s art director and curator under both business names, said on Thursday that the collection has been purchased by Biblical Times Dinner Theater in Pigeon Forge. ....

A final sold-out show


GATLINBURG
The 2020 New Year’s Eve show was sold out at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre, just as many performances have been since the downtown performing arts venue opened in 1977.
The difference this time was that there will not be a season the following year.
Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre closed permanently after its Dec. 31, 2020 show. Cast member Betsy Daidone confirmed the permanent closure and said that the New Year’s Eve show was sold out.
“Sweet Fanny Adam’s is part of a rich tradition that has been a staple here in Gatlinburg since 1977. The theatre has played a major role in making family memories and traditions for visitors for decades,” said Mark Adams, CEO/president of Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We are deeply grateful to the McPherson family for being a valued partner in marketing and promoting tourism to Gatlinburg. We wish them well in their next act.” ....
