Wanted: Citizen scientists to count moose for annual Moose Day

Do you like moose? Do you have some time the morning of March 6 to get out and count them?
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is looking for volunteers for Moose Day and will host a Nature Mapping training and a Moose ID Clinic to prep you.
Moose Day is an annual census sponsored each winter by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the Bridger-Teton National Forest and Nature Mapping Jackson Hole. The tallies help wildlife managers monitor Alces alces population trends over time.
Budget constraints are limiting Game and Fish s aerial surveys this year, so the on-the-ground effort is extra important, the foundation said. ....

Grizzly 399, arguably the valleyâs biggest celebrity, waddled through the snow, leading her elk-fattened brood of four cubs north toward the den, while the man who championed the valleyâs wild creatures for nearly half a century took his final breath.
